10 YEARS OF PREDICT
We all want to live in a world safeguarded from emerging pandemic threats. For the past decade, PREDICT, a project of USAID’s Emerging Pandemic Threats (EPT) program, has been working to achieve that vision using the One Health approach and by training a workforce that is better prepared and empowered to make pandemic prevention a reality. With partners in more than 30 countries, we built platforms that strengthened surveillance and laboratory capacities; characterized human and ecological drivers of viral spillover from animals to people; engaged communities at the wildlife-human interface to understand behaviors and develop practical risk-reduction strategies; and began developing One Health policy recommendations.
